As the pandemic continues and our hopes for normalcy move toward the pragmatic, let’s look ahead to 2022. ‘Tis the season for predictions... Each year I excitedly explore the fintech, tech, blockchain and crypto ecosystems to highlight what key leaders, founders and innovators expect to happen in their sectors during the upcoming year ( check out 2017 marketplace lending, 2018 crypto, 2018 blockchain, 2018 fintech, 2019, 2020 and 2021 predictions! ). This year’s EKMH Innovators’ predictions continue to cover a gamut of sectors, topics and trends, including blockchain, DeFi, TradFi, cryptocurrency, NFTs, medtech, social media, GameFi, metaverse and data. Many thanks to the inspiring trailblazers who share their insight and whose innovations and leadership will continue to guide us into a brighter future.
This year’s series is kicked off by Harvard alum Hossein Azari, PhD, MBA, the Founder and CEO of cmorq, a no-fee DeFi app that recently launched an NFT collection. cmorq provides compliance tools for enterprises needing access to clean, consistent data on the blockchain. Cmorq’s founding team met in Columbia’s MBA program and launched its first product in January 2019, working with a handful of auditors, accounting firms and other entities.
CEO Hossein Azari, a former Google Scientist and the Founder / former Chief Data Scientist at the startup Clarity Money (which Goldman Sachs bought for $100 million in 2018), is bullish on coins to say the least: "The gifting of NFTs will continue well past the holidays!"

Think of email when it first became a tool, it didn't make much sense. Why would you send an email when you could just make a call (most of the internet was done over a phone line)?
Here are a few additional use cases of NFTs I predict could take off in 2022:
Birthday, anniversary, valentines, graduation cards and other cards will shift to be NFTs that you hold forever, in an app like cmorq.
Brands will create NFT teams.
NFTs for real estate will not just be talked about but actually used regularly and will make questionable the use of Title Insurance.
Fashion brands will be left behind if they're not creating a metaverse collection. Expect your first metaverse fashion show by a large brand during fashion week.
A former president will create an NFT collection.
